yes i had *miyukguk (seaweed soup) yesterday

*미역국 (miyukguk) - seaweed soup, traditionally eaten on birthdays in Korea. The soup is made with dried seaweed, beef broth, lots of garlic and sesame oil and it's SO delicious and SOOOO nutritious. This tradition is because moms traditionally eat this food for several weeks after giving birth as seaweed is rich in iodine, calcium, and iron which help with the recovery process and is easy to digest. Eating this on your birthday is a way of honoring your mother during childbirth, remembering her, expressing gratitude, and also as a 'new start' to the next year of life~

*굳이 (sounds like gujee despite how it's spelled) - is this added word when someone is about to explain why some thing/action/suggestion doesn't necessarily have to be a certain way or taken to that extent or be executed quite that way

For example, you may hear "굳이..." a lot with "그렇게까지 안해도 되" (gujee geureoke kkaji ahnhaedo dweh) - meaning "you don't [necessarily] have to go that extent/take it that far" - but in this sentence, the actually heavy lifting is done by "그렇게까지" - as in the meaning would still carry if you just said "그렇게까지 안해도 되" but adding "굳이" beforehand sets up what's coming like ..mm why would we do it like this..

this is something i saw for the FIRST time in 2012. A good Korean-American friend of mine from LA, a very fashionable friend, wore glasses without lenses TO CLASS. I was so sure he'd flexed so hard once about having 20/20 vision once that I just asked him if his eyes had gotten so bad since starting grad school that he needed glasses now (even a mild dose) out of genuine concern! And he did exactly what Jimin did, poked through the lens hole to show me he was just wearing frames. WHAT. DO. YOU. MEAN?! I will never truly comprehend people who are this fashionable.

but when i got out of the car i was so nervous because my heart was beating so fast i could feel it in my chest

so i think seeing that made me less nervous..

so we went running together on the weekend
and while we were running, jungkook was like.. like while we were still in the military
while we were running, i can't remember what song it was but

so i was running and listening to this song..

and the distance between us kept getting bigger

and i was sooo dead but i was trying to keep up..
and then we came to this road with a curve
and jungkook went to the right first so I couldn't see him

and i was at the curved part.. and jungkook had already gone around the curve
and i was hauling ass to keep up and while he was out of sight.. that's when the music starts to swell/build up the instrumental part

cuz i was just sleeping and lying down the whole time
the person in the seat in front of me asked 'why aren't you eating?' 'please be sure to eat something' haha just reminded me of this sweet exchange i was so grateful to have

*선생님 (seonsaengnim) - teacher, but also a respectful way to address/refer to a stranger that you don't know/is older than you or you're unsure of their age - having nothing to do with their actual profession. Koreans hold up educators in very high esteem so it's a solid default way to refer to anyone when you want to refer to someone politely. It doesn't necessarily mean Jimin met a teacher. It's just a really respectful way to say 'someone'
