Having grown up in the states, my earliest education about “working out” had to do MAINLY with physical appearance and/or athletic performance for school sports teams and health in general. But re: health, it was SO general, I didn’t know the CRITICAL importance of working out (specifically, weight training) if you were (1) not an athlete; (2) not especially working towards any kind of physique (weight loss/gain/getting muscular/toning your abs/etc.); and (3) not leading an especially unhealthy lifestyle (average movement, average balanced diet, etc.).
I really thought working out was an opt-in if you had any of those (^) specific goals.

Start small, start manageable, start sustainable - but beloved readers please start.

It’s NEVER too late to start but it’s also NEVER too early to start.

Even with my very small following, I do think you should know where I stand as a Korean-American, with more cultural context, on people who seriously ‘ship’ BTS with each other…

while I TRULY would not give one flying f if it turned out that any number of them were gay (with each other or with anyone else) and would not love/root for/support them ANY LESS if so, there is ABSOLUTELY NO BASIS to conclude that any of them have ever been intimate or romantically involved with each other. ZERO. NONE AT ALL.

"BUT WHAT ABOUT *how physically affectionate they are? Their closeness? Their inability to sit on separate seats if there’s one surface they can all pile onto???" YOU ASK??

To western/non-Korean eyes, this might seem #GAY but in Korea, especially within more modern Korean social culture, this is how most guy friend groups behave… it’s been that way since as long as I can remember and I'm in my 30s. Now - toxic masculinity and all the problematic ideals that stem from that definitely still do exist and definitely still have a grip on parts society FOR SURE and/or manifests in different challenges than western/non-Korean episodes of toxic masculinity. But very touchy/feely physical affection/closeness - especially with same gendered groups of friends is VERY typical.

I, as a Korean-American, born and raised on the east coast of the United States, have witnessed this kind of closeness in Korean boys/girls/men/women whenever friends/family/students visited from Korea. There’s a softness there that has NOTHING to do with romantic/erotic touch. If any BTS member ever comes out as whatever - they will continue to be who they’ve always been - individuals with great talent, integrity, self-discipline, creativity, and grit. Their romantic partners have never been our business.

Now, all that said, when people are not actually serious stirring up drama of an imagined romantic relationship rumor and employ #SHIPNAME to assert the pairs’ closeness or partnership in some GOOFY AF shenanigans/adventures, I am SO HERE for it - in fact, this is what I originally thought those hashtags were referencing… was disappointed to learn people took it to weird places

I have noticed when “Korean” Koreans use the word “Konglish” it’s meant to describe transliterated words, as in English words phonetically spelled out in Korean (e.g., lag -> 렉, devil’s plan -> 데블스 플렌, etc.) where there IS a Korean word that exists for that ‘thing/concept/etc.’ but they still use this wonky af transliterated version anyway as distinct from loan words (e.g., pizza -> 피자, as in the thing itself didn’t previously have a Korean counterpart so the ‘thing’ was adopted with its full government name in tact lol)

When Korean-Americans use the word “Konglish” it’s meant to describe when we weave in and out of Korean and English in ways that only really make sense to other speakers of Korean/English. For example, growing up, speaking to my America-based, Korean-American older relatives, I might say something like “이모, 밥 더 주세여 pleaseee” or like “엄마, where’s 아빠? We have to leave ….빨리~”

so smol back story as Jimin was trained formally in contemporary dance - requiring very fluid, soft, graceful moves, one of the biggest areas wherein he needed to grow as a dancer in hiphop (at the time) was to be able to do choreography that was sharper, less graceful and more jagged, clear stops/starts between each movement - a difficult feat for anyone who’s spent YEARS purposely training to move like a floating ribbon - but the company was SO impressed by Jimin’s progress because it was so clear how much he’d improved his ability to dance this way in such a short amount of time - they were deeply impressed with his commitment to growth, his dedication to practice, and his actual, noticeable growth in movement. i cry
