V 1/29/2020 LIVE
A throwback to a live from January 29, 2020... featuring V with guest member features unpacking a Black Swan performance, j-hope getting kicked in the face, and more!
TaeTae FM 6.13
It's been a while since they've done a live - so I figured I might travel back to this date 6 years ago and lo and behold, this is V from 2020. BTS didn't find me until 2023. 2020 probably held some of the darkest times for so many of us.
In January of 2020, I was reeling from the death of a family member, dealing with a slowly escalating abusive situation at my work with a previously deeply trusted superior, and rocked from walking alongside another family member with old-age-related dementia - all before news of the pandemic would break in America..and globally.
I know everyone was hit so hard in 2020 from all angles. I'm sure I've seen clips without knowing but I haven't watched any of their lives from that year. I figure now's a good a time as any to take a moment to remember how far we've come since 2020. Check in with yourself. No matter when you joined the fandom, here you are! You made it to 2026 as a human being in this complicated, terrifying, incredible world. All the wins, all the failures, all the gains, all the losses, all the decisions you've had to make, all the small joys you fought so hard to protect - give yourself a moment to dwell in your strength, your resiliency, and your growth!
And join me back in 2020 as I watch this live for the first time today to see these bingbongs on January 29, 2020.
My commentary in green.

naee.. how are you?
I'm the host of TaeTae FM, Kim Taehyung (bb bear claps)
I'm really...
People have asked me to take pictures
But I thought it would be better to see faces and talk rather than pictures
So I chose this..
Last time on TaeTae FM episode 1..I was by myself
Today, there's really..
There's an unbelievable guest...
Wait just as I'm saying this, our guest has arrived
::doorbell sounds::
ah, please sit here and usually, on my radio show, the guest is king
hobi: why's your room so nice though??
V: wait why did you speakkk (V whining cuz j-hope spoke off cam before he could do the big reveal)
hobi: why's your room so nice??
V::taps seat to gesture j-hope to sit down::
hobi: your room's so nice!
V: really?
hobi: that's rightttttt idk why he says this in like a smoker's voice but LOLL our sunshine everyone
hobi: so what is this
V: huh?.. i was bored
hobi: so you did a V Live?
V: I made content
hobi: what is it?
V: It's called TaeTae FM
hobi: k..
V: now TaeTae FM will invite guests...
hobi: can i go use the bathroom real quick?
V: 😑
hobi: one sec.. imma wash my hands i'll be right backk ..wait a minute
V: 😑😑😑

hobi (off cam): wait why is your room so nice??
V: ...is your room not at least this nice?
V: as I said earlier, our guest is king
hobi back on screen: okay.. so what is this now? radio? what?
V: It's TaeTae FM and.. we'll be having a counseling time now.. so this.. I don't mean to counsel you but we're going to have a time to tell.. a time to ..
hobi (gently finishing what V had meant to say): a time to listen?[to ARMY's worries]
V::nods::
hobi: ohhh
V: so.. like through Weverse comments
hobi: i like it. did you make this up? (it's truly no wonder the maknaes love hobi because look how he's smiling EAR to EAR waiting to give props to bb V for this little content idea)
V::so proud:: i thought up the idea! in my head! .. in my head!
hobi: okay gotcha..
V: really.. no one helped me think of it
hobi: okay gotcha
V: because I was bored..
hobi: okay gotcha ..okay go ahead~

V (to ARMY): k.. so now if you give us your worries.. or send us your concerns
hobi (to V): when did you turn it on, it hasn't been that long right?
V: yup
hobi (to ARMY): oh yes, hi guys!
V (to hobi): so they're gonna update us with their concerns here ::showing j-hope his phone on weverse::
hobi: oh it's weverse okay
V: okay so now it's time we listen to ARMY's concerns
hobi (to V, reading the comment on weverse that sounds like a nonKorean ARMY trying their best to say something but it hasn't been translated accurately): "Taehyungah, speaking english.. when did you study?"
V&hobi ::laughing because the question doesn't make sense and that's the first one hobi read::
hobi: oh.. [that one's from] Jamie ssi
V::bb bear giggles::
hobi: Jamie must've used google translate so - very accurate
hobi to V: so should I just read off the concerns now?
V: yes, you have to scroll up though
hobi::scrolling through these 'concerns' lookin legit concerned AF::

hobi (reading): "My family only likes my older brother.. what should I do?"
V: hyung, you have to answer them now
hobi: O_O you want ME to answer these??

V: of course hyung you have to answer these
hobi: aghhhh
V: you gotta read their names now
hobi: okay i'll start now - that last one was from "username Kim Ahyoung is very pretttyyyyy nim" and .. it's good to like everyone yes.
(HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA) excellent 'advice' but watch V watch hobi "give this advice" loll
hobi: okay let's start officially forreal now.. ::singing::sunshine giggles::stress:: there's actually so many.. our ARMY has so many concerns.. oh! "tomorrow is the announcement of college admissions, i'm so anxious, please share some words of comfort hehe" i mean i guess less than asking for advice they're just looking for some encouragement, user "I'm on your side nim"
V: ohhh
hobi: okay.. you will for sure get admitted
V: cuz we're on your side
hobi: naee
hobi: "oppa, i'm entering college now but since i'm a *fast track student i don't think i'll be able to make friends" ... do fast tracks even exist anymore?
V: fast tracks don't exist anymore right? fast tracks don't matter anymore [when it comes to making friends]
*빠른이 (bbareunee) = "fast track" or student that skipped a grade(s) and/or was admitted earlier than normal
this user was worried they might have trouble making new friends because sometimes students in this category could be ostracized for thinking too highly of themselves (because they were admitted at a younger age than the average student and/or had the connections to be able to swing this admission some other way) and whether or not the student might actually behave in a manner that is haughty or something like that, they may have less opportunity to prove to others that they're not like that or connect with people
also, because Korean social culture is so hierarchical, usually your close friends (with whom you don't have to keep honorifics) are usually the same age/classmates and such but if this individual would be younger than all their 'classmates' - even though they're in the same grade, breaking down hierarchical barriers could be more difficult. all to say this is a legitimate concern not like an obnoxious humble brag
hobi, reading: "they say you make friends in college through drinking together - but please teach me how to befriend good friends" ...ohhhh... indeed...to be honest.. uhhhh indeed.. ::bb bear & sunshine giggles:: ...to speak on this i have to have experienced SOMETHING like this to even be able to say anything about it to user Moni's Red Bean Bun nim - just ..to be honest, I think everything comes down to confidence everyone
commenter lowkey forgot that the members of BTS did not have a 'normal' college experience at ALLLL lolll they have zero and a half recs on how to navigate 'normal' college life and making friends in 'class' for all except maybe Jin..
V: yupp
hobi: have confidence and approach your friends
V: ohh
hobi: approach them with confidence and intention .. that's how .. others will be drawn to you
V: yes
hobi: i mean but this is just my personal approach
to all you lovely people, tell me why it took me like 32 years to realize that 'i have nothing to prove'
when I first heard the lyrics "네가 뭔대 날인정해?" (who/what are you to acknowledge me?) in 2023, I felt the lyrics crystallize into music what I'd wanted to express for a long time - articulating with words and an attitude to a formless realization that had been floating around in me since ~2019...
behind closed doors, your integrity is all you have. if you're lazier than you've fooled everyone into believing, you're left with only the truth of who you could have become if you'd worked more earnestly, pursued growth more readily even when it got uncomfortable, it doesn't matter if the world thinks you're the best - you know your reality. i read somewhere that hell is 'who you are' meeting 'who you could've become' on your final day. life is life but i won't let those "two people" be different. on the flip, if you're earnestly giving life everything you've got, TRULY no matter what anyone says, you are showing up the best you can. no one else's props to you means more than you owning every ounce of your awesome and cultivating it responsibly
hobi: there are so many ways to approach this.. so you can also approach [this] in your own way - i think that would be good
V repeating hobi hyung: i think that would be good
hobi: yea
V: now just do 3 more..
hobi: 3 more??
V: yup
hobi: are there any more.. innovative concerns?
V: you have to keep scrolling up
hobi: actually to have an innovative concern is probably rare..
hobi: ...Margaret Choco Pie nim says "i have an english vocab test tomorrow, please share some hacks/tips to memorize them" ...(to V) you know why I chose this question?
V: why?

(i was gonna be like.. why has V melted into the ground but he gave his only chair to his hyungie and is kneeling/squatting on the ground.. and I crieid for 3 business days)
