OT7 Live - 8/16

My commentary in green as usual. This live is even more chaotic than usual given they had very bad connection. They also didn't really speak in coherent whole thoughts - lots of shouting over each other but ...it is what it is... also Jin yelling "hello" a ton. Here we go!
Jin: HELLOOOO
RM: What's upppp?
SUGA: is this working?
JK: Not yet.. it didn't come up yet.
V: It didn't come up yet?
Jin: No.. 2 seconds have passed..
Jin (to V:) please don't wipe that on my clothes....

V - continues to more aggressively dry himself off using Jin*

what Jin says (아 나 진짜 미치겠다 진짜), literally, is "it really makes me crazy/you're really making me crazy" and lots of translation engines translate this as "you're driving me crazy" or something like "you're making me nuts" but that has a very different vibe than the intended tone here - what Jin is conveying is [lovingly] "you're SO ANNOYING." This is a way Koreans express that sentiment when expressed in this way. It can also literally be used to say "you are driving me crazy" too but that's not how Jin is using it here.

also - the other 5 are entirely unbothered by V harassing Jin and this is why we love them. chaos is their oxygen.

RM: We're doing well~

SUGA (to RM): we're working diligently on our new album right?

진을 다 뺐어 (jineul da baetssuh)- i utterly depleted my spirit/energy aka "i'm completely wiped out/exhausted" but it is also a pun because 진 (jin) which in this context means spirit/energy is obviously also Jin's name... cue the following shenanigans...

JK (to RM): 진을 뺐다고요? triggering the dad joke here 'you depleted your Jin you say?'
Jin (faithfully responding to his baby bobaball as well as fulfilling his role as resident purveyor of dad jokes): oh.. you depleted your JIN? jumps out of frame
JK: babybunnygiggles

RM (re: Jin): ...still the same
Jin dying of laughter in the background
j-hope: .....would you believe he's 34?
RM: WOULD YOU BELIEVE THIS MAN IS 34 YEARS OLD?

V: isn't Jin hyung 35?
RM: you don't even know his age?

JK (to V:) do you wanna hold it? okay.. come to the center - ow my shoulder hurts

j-hope & some other members doing Korean age math in the background figuring that Jin and SUGA are the same age according to international age... SUGA(32, March 8, 1993) & Jin(32, December 4, 1992)

JK: let's go over there

j-hope: he [SUGA] is a friend..
Jin: HEY MY FRIEND
SUGA: 3 months... 3 months.. he's only hyung for 3 months..

RM: sing it once..
JK: IT'S NOT EVEN CONFIRMED YET WE CAN'T SING IT YET...

V: imma hold it like this (the camera) so let's walk looking forward

RM: we don't even know what is going to be in the album yet
j-hope: slow slow slow slow music 🎶slowlyyy

Jin: We came just to show our faces real quick
SUGA: studio studio ...studio

j-hope: i mean but truly.. we've only been working so...
RM: we are working really hard...
j-hope: like we've ONLY been working...

so the camera keeps cutting out so i'm not 100% sure who's speaking at times but I think I have it right...

SUGA: tbh it's our day off so we just came out to get some fresh air a bit...
JK: tbh.. coming here I thought we'd work a little bit differently..
RM: i mean we did work differently...

색다르게 (saekdareugeh) = in/of a different color, Koreans often use this metaphor to describe things in different styles/a new kind of experience like - in a different color~

JK: we did work differently... a bit... but as usual.. we are churning like a factory

Jin (to camera): know how I went on a tour by myself... so like I was really anticipating something new when I got here but forreall.. it's like we wake up in the morning, work out, eat, go to the studio, then come back, eat, then sleep... like honestly this is all we do

it's at this point that SUGA makes the supreme choice to get right in front of the camera and pose as a snowmanbbcat and delighted the nations.

and then j-hope followed suit

JK: ...was that [the SUPER ZOOMED IN SELFIE MOMENTS] truly necessary?
j-hope: no..trust. this was the right move

yes. yes it was.

Jin: that shot was so pretty

JK: ...you see.. this is my phone.
(peering into the soul of the camera...frozen every other second): IT ISS WORKING THOUGH RIGHT??

Jin: no we must shut our mouths..

V (I think*): we have like 5 minutes til the sunsets now..

JK (to V, to placate his hyungs, feigning to play nice): you're so pretty

Jimin: MOLLA?

몰라 (molla) = "don't know" - said with certainty = i don't know; said with an upward inflection is "don't you know?" or "you don't know?" - this is the latter

this "you're so pretty/thank you/molla?!" thing seems to be an inside joke referencing some old meme/pop cultural ref. You can hear Jin explaining to one of the other members "it's from that old popular.." and then you can't hear anymore because the maknaes are shouting 'you're so pretty' over Jin loll i don't know the reference but if you know the reference - please feel free to share in comments!

인사 (insah) = greeting, in Korean culture (and many others I'm sure) - it's really important to greet each other appropriately~ you'll always see people greeting upon entering/leaving groups/places and when new people arrive/leave you

Jimin: let's just wrap and then go
