Hi Loves. Sorry this has taken so long. Some of you may know but I had kind of a tough week. A bit more about that here if you're interested. No pressure to read that though lol.

As ever, my goal with these longer form translations was not just to translate but to translate meaningful longer form content that sheds light on more of who they are or their work or projects, etc. in a helpful way.

I know that the maknaes all did gaming livestreams in the last few days that were all really long - but to be honest there's not all that much content in them. I'll post about their lives as highlights rather than full transcripts - especially because this week/this time is a little bit tough for me.. and also because so much of their lives are either all game-centered chat (noises, game play commentary) or literally dead silence..

whenever they do lives/write posts that I really feel would be meaningful to share, i'll def do my utmost to get that to you asap.

*겁나 (gubna)-literally means "it's scary/scary", 많아졌어 (mana jusseo)-has become a lot; together, "gubna" is often used as a slang adverb to mean "very" sorta in the same way you used to hear people like "there's mad people in times square around Christmas" or something like that

AFK = away from keyboard; in online gaming if someone is "afk" it could mean they intentionally stepped away/got disconnected but sometimes diff games penalize players for doing this during gameplay because it's not great etiquette; here they're just navigating which rooms to enter (not actively playing IN games) so the room host might be unresponsive/have stepped away for any number or reasons

I think JK was trying to stack each team 'evenly' with a mix of higher level/beginner players for a fair game when Jin points out that someone on the opposing team is level 4.. to which JK is like 'yup, intended' but we all know our Jin is the princess of cheating... so Jin answers 'no.. that's okay' as in it's fine to stack our team with great players and leave the other team ..sorta intentionally disadvantaged with mostly low-level/beginner/less experienced players LOLLL

*if you've been following me a bit, you've seen me talk about it before but in all kinds of games there's this term "hard carry" or "carry" which means that [that player] is carrying the success/survival/flourishing of the team

BTS has used this term "hard carry" when Jin and j-hope were enlisted, they said the remaining 5 were doing the "hard carry" because they were doing activities, promotions, and other work while they were in service. Once out, RM/V/JK/Jimin would say things like "Jin and j-hope carried" or "did the hard carry" for the team as they were the first ones out shouldering the rep of the team between just the two of them with their solo activities/promotions, etc.

i just found that so endearing and also sooOoo hot 🥵😭

they're repeating the same things over so much so i'll just take this moment to share some vocab:

*들어가 (deuluh gah) - (literally) "go in" but here it means like 'go for it' as in shoot/kill the thing or get the thing etc

*죽었어 (jooguhssuh) - (literally) it/he/she/they died (Korean pronouns generally don't have pronouns.. everything is like a 'that entity' /'that individual' and understood via context); this is entirely appropriate for gaming or sorta inconsequential deaths "that gnat died" but this is not how you'd communicate the loss of a loved one

*그렇지 (geureohchi) - (literally) "that's right" or "just like that"

*다 죽여! (da joogyuh) - kill em all!

*막아버려! (magabuhryuh) - block them!

*이런저런 (eerunjuhrun) - this and that or this and that type of thing

**저런 (juhrun) - means "that type of thing" - but ALSO - Koreans often use this word to express disdain or frustration toward something/someone; namely old men.. kinda like if an old grandpa sees a reckless little kid playing too rowdy or something and then breaking something, he might say "juhrunnnn tsk" and it kinda has the equivalent weight of "you little.." it can be as endearing or menacing as the tone in which its delivered

so when JK says the username and then in a low voice (which is how the old grandpas say it) he goes 'juhrunnn' -he's playfully showing his disdain for this player that has..apparently killed JK multiple times in this match loll

*네 (nae) you probably all recognize - this is just the polite/formal Korean way of saying 'yes' to older people.. and while i'm (personally) almost violently opposed to all aegyo loll if you wanna cutesy up a word, chances are you can add like a 'ㅂ' to it or a 'ㅇ' to it

for example, you can answer "넵" and that's a cute way of answering - so this individual Jin was telling to fight on land fair and square put up ZERO fight and just obeyed immediately loll so Jin thought it was funny/noteworthy

if you add an 'ㅇ' to the ends of stuff like 사랑해용(saranghaeyoNG*) or 밥 먹었어용 (bap muggeoussuhyoNG) - it's cutesy in Korean in like texts and stuff. 0/10 recommend doing this in real life cuz i hateeeeee it.. but it's cute when ppl do it ironically or intentionally sorta obnoxiously~ to each other

what i will say that IS noteworthy about their gameplay is the following:

JK is delighted by Jin whether Jin plays very well or very poorly and he sings in between plays.
Don't let Jin's words distract you from how much he downplays his game sensibilities. He asked JK lots of questions but if he were playing alone he would've been able to navigate that without JK's help no problem and crush it anyway~ As you all know, Jin downplays his skills all the time but shows up when it counts
