SUGA: oh they changed the color of the water with CG huh - we were shook~ went all the way to Lisbon..

j-hope: if you want a lil behind the scenes story - it rained SOOO MUCH

Jin: yea on and off so muchh

RM: later on the scene with hobi - is not CG right?
j-hope: that's right - i actually get even more rained on than what is shown - they actually went with the take where I get rained on less
JK: but i think THAT's why it turned out looking so cool

supportive boba is so cute jakdf;gjalkdfg - he's not even on screen for that comment but his roundie supportive presence is keenly felt

SUGA: no cuz i got there.. and the kid was DRENCHEDDD

RM: but fortunately for your part -it was kind of an explosive part (as in, it's okay that the shot was very rainy)

Jimin: cuz we got there right before the typhoon hit
RM: right right.. by the time we got there, except for Lisbon, there was already a typhoon
SUGA: there was some damage from the typhoon too

j-hope: i think like.. everyone had kind of their unique role to play in each scene right?
RM: there is there is - that's why Lily..

SUGA: they're gonna see that [his hair long] and then all of a sudden see me with short hair..
j-hope: our Yoongi hyung got younger!

j-hope: you were growing it out and cut it abruptly..

SUGA: i mean i was always going to cut it..

RM: there were so many debates about the treatment of this music video too
JK: that's right..
Jin: yea there were many [debates] here/at this point too

SUGA: we did talk a lottt
Jin: we all had so many opinions that we struggled to organize them all - i was making a lot of suggestions at first but then i kinda dipped out cuz i felt like there were too many cooks in the kitchen..

RM: in a way, the overall content of the MV is kind of like Lily's ..
RM: Lily's wandering..as she encounters all of us ..

RM: saying like "how big are we gonna get/how well is this gonna go..." (re: the huge rainbow that graced them at this point in filming)

SUGA: truly.. an actor's acting is so different..
RM: of course -very different
JK: even the *look in here eyes are different
j-hope: so different
*눈빛 (noon/nun beet/bit)= literally, eye light - most closely translated to/understood as "look in her eyes"

V: now seeing this like this.. the 7 of us .. look good in uniforms

RM: remember UNIFORM SONYEONDAN?
JK: oh like our.. MBC... what was that?
RM: Gayo Daejejeon? (like.. Grand Music Festival)
JK: Gayo Daejejeon!

가요 (gah-yo) = often written "GAYO" - not pronounced 'gay-o' but 'gah-yo' means popular music/songs so LOTS of music-related shows, segments, corners of TV shows use this word lol; i've seen it playfully and purposely misread here and there but please ALSO just understand its actual meaning lol

가요 is sino-korean from:
-歌 (가) = song
-謠 (요) = ballad / folk song

Jin: the white one?
JK: Escape..

(I think they're just trying to figure out the exact segment/show they came up with or referred to as 'UNIFORM SONYEONDAN')

j-hope: i think [the MV] came out really well [matching] the SWIM song
Jimin: when you first see it..
JK: it's like a movie
Jimin: you might be like why all of a sudden is there a female main character?
RM: why is she in it so much?
V: why aren't the BTS members in it as much?
RM: why aren't we dancing or singing as much?
Jimin: you might have these questions but i think those were all necessary choices to explain this song

RM: i think... it's like this.. the music video had to be the best medium to express the song
Jimin: the music video right?
RM: yea

SUGA: cuz in the past usually.. i think it's been more like.. rather than trying to explain the song - it was more about showcasing each person's visuals and performance - RM: and then making people listen to the song through that
SUGA: and then this is kind of the opposite of that - we had a lot of discussions about this too, right?
Jimin: right
RM: we had so many debates

V: but nowadays, the music video itself has to also convey the message of making the music sound better, so we had to make a lot of revisions to the treatment of how to make our song "SWIM" sound better
BTS: SOO MANY revisions

RM: it's really hard to make a [certain] change for the better

(the translation on the weverse had "it's really hard to have good changnes" and that's definitely not incorrect - but RM is trying to convey that like, in the process of revising something, especially something as subjective as music, it's hard to have any kind of certainty that each change/revision IS in fact yielding a better 'version of the thing you're working on' than it was before the change)

and this resonates with me deeply! I just felt it was important to unpack that a bit further because "it's really hard to have good changes" didn't quite capture the intended meaning in my opinion

I think it's always grounding for creatives to hear other creatives talk about the struggle of iteration and paring down or revising and knowing when/how/if/why to stop

RM: cuz actually if something 'changes' - from those that were familiar with the previous versions, it's only natural that there'd be pushback/resistance [to the change]
JK: that's right

Jimin: i mean we had those kinds of conversations a lot right.. like when this music video is released - do you think we'll get more hate or more love?
j-hope: hahaha

RM: for me, now, in 2026 - i think hate is also a form of love - because if they didn't care, they wouldn't hate either
Jimin: that's true that's true

LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK. For all the hate you may carry to date towards anything/anyone - it's worth checking in with yourself, is it hate that stems from a deep-seated love that is worth feeling in full, grieving and processing, and fighting [with the hated] to reconcile? IF it's worth the effort, it could lead to incredible growth for sure. HOWEVER, IF THAT IS NOT THE CASE - it's worth recalibrating entirely.

Because if you're holding dead weight when it's not or not YET worth your effort to repair, the exhaustion you feel for carrying that extra burden is for you to put down.

Jimin: and in any case it was a new challenge for us (to make a music video like this, prioritizing the plot of the song rather than using the music as a vessel to showcase their physical talents/looks to garner more listens/views)
V: and i think.. we've been like that all along

Jimin: anyway this album, we went through a long hiatus and we prepared for a long time to come out with this album, so i hope you all listen to it a lot

RM: truly, your favorite song will keep changing.. and we're going to be doing a concert... we're going to America soon

Jimin: how long has it been since we've been on stageee

V: oh and then there's this.. as I've listened to our album and watched the music video, I feel like our chapter 2 has been really nicely expressed but beyond that i think it's also so US - like it still feels like Bangtan.. so I think it's kinda more.. 'fresh' in that way..

I imagine he means it's more 'fresh' because it's not just that it's entirely new - but it's the 'updated' version of their work - so there's this sense of evolution alongside the 'newness' of it all, rather than JUST novelty alone

RM: what.. does it mean to be like Bangtan though?? (king of existential crises)

JK answers by saying "this" but the camera doesn't pan to him so I don't know what he's doing.. but I imagine he's gesturing to the group or acting something out.. it's too bad they didn't zoom out to catch that -__-"

Jimin: i mean isn't it just moving forward despite the fact that we may or may not know what we're doing..??

SUGA: it's finally tomorrow

friends - it's so hard to translate as sometimes they EACH start brand new thoughts and are not in fact conversing with or building on 1 narrative thread but just asserting different brand new ideas in succession... jakldf;gjaldfjg;lakdfjg

SUGA: it's been 4 years.. 4 years since we've stood on stage together ..

RM: i don't even remember the Busan concert like..

Jin: oh right before I went into the military..

j-hope: yes safety is top priority and i mean to harp on it a bit further - not only our fans but since many crowds of people will be clustering/gathering around in places - again - more than anything, please be safe - we'll say it again - safety is top priority and of utmost importance
RM: we'd appreciate if you follow the instructions of people directing traffic
j-hope: we'd appreciate if you follow the instructions of the staff and the police officers who are helping with safety control on site

Jimin: for everyone coming to see us and heading back afterwards - i mean more than anything we want this only to be a joyful/fun moment/gathering without incident so that you can enjoy our time together and we can rest assured that you've all left safely as well

RM: even when we did it at Yeoido last time, it ended really safely/without issues

RM: our 10-year anniversary - i did the concert on my own.. you were already enlisted
Jin: oh i was already in the military then ..
RM: and again, we have such a great precedent, ARMY will do a great job again no doubt

SUGA: and they always do such a great job anyway
RM: they are such awesome people
Jin: if we can get through without any major issues, everyone will probably be happy with the concert going off without a hitch

Jin: and we've been able to have some time to discuss our album and as much as you've waited for us - we've worked really hard to prepare for this album so we hope that we were able to convey that adequately to you all [via this live]

j-hope: our album is out!

V: and one week alter - our behind-the-scenes of our album process
j-hope: we talked about it a bit before but ..
SUGA: hehe it's fun
V: our Netflix documentary will be released with all the behind-the-scenes moments
SUGA: of all our docus, I think this was the best one

JK: the documentary is kinda like fresh/new too
V: we watched it too and it's very fun

RM: BTS: THE RETURN

V: and in making an impression on Netflix for the first time under the 'Bangtan' name - everything we weren't able to cover today.. as well as all the fun stories from that time and all the sincere talks - it holds all of that so ..we'd love it if you watched it with us

RM: but i will say we were all a little bit chubbs back then [when it was being filmed]
Jimin: omg i was about to say the same thing
RM: everyone was about 10kg heavier
SUGA: i think i lost exactly 10kg since then
RM: me too just about 10kg?

V: i've been flipping through and i'm looking at my forearms like.. what the.. when was i like this? ::passes the book he's flipping through to SUGA/JK/Jimin::

Jimin: i mean i've since lost 9-10kg as well and you will see.. a face that isn't easy to look at (jadlfgjaldkfjgajkfgshushyourstupidbeautifulfaceyouperfectchickennuggetyou)
SUGA: and THAT is the documentary right there

Jin: i mean even for me, it'd been such a long time since i'd seen all the kids (cries for 3 days because that's how he refers to his members ALL the time) and they'd all gotten HUGE ..all lifting like 10kg 20kg more than me and stuff....

JK (re: V's forearms): i don't think it's super different from now..??
V: no there's a HUGE difference
Jimin: no there's a big differenceee

Jin: and there was a time during a live where I did say that.. like my preferred aesthetic (for myself) is to be kinda on the slimmer side but the kids have forced me to workout so much..
RM: hyung, you work out so regularly these days though
JK: i think you work out more than anyone else..
RM re Jin: this hyung works out all the time here..
SUGA: i think it's more conditioning..
Jin: no it's because my body is unwell.. because I am old.. so
JK: stop lyingg.. you're always like 'Jung Kook, look look feel this ::flexes:: can't you feel the muscles?? don't you think i've formed some [abs]??'
Jimin: no but cuz like this hyung is so slim right.. so to be honest - it's pretty unrealistic to expect like CRAZY muscles from us you know? but he keeps asking us to touch him

JK: anyway - now we'll be headed on our 34-city world tour to meet ARMYs all around the world

JK: and as much as you've waited - we've been working really hard to prepare a great performance/great music for you all so we'd appreciate it if you enjoyed it all!
Jimin: i think it'll be fun

V: anyway yea.. our album is finally out
JK: we gotta get some restful sleep and take good care of our conditions so that we can perform well tomorrow
V: but actually once this wraps - we have to go back to prep.. we have a lot to do still
JK: cuz we still have schedules/appointments left after this..

Jin: well before we wrap up shall we each give a quick ending sentiments/final thoughts?
Jimin: oh should we do that very briefly then actually?

j-hope: oh.. final thoughts.. mm... i feel like the sheer time spent will do a lot of the heavy lifting in terms of explaining/conveying for us - that much - i think this is the album we have waited for and you all have waited for so with this album release - i am so overwhelmed with emotion and so pleased/satisfied [with the work] i'd love to just have days where we can really fully enjoy it all, please show ARIRANG lots of love! Fighting! Let's have fun enjoying it together!

RM: for me.. let's see - even just the fact that we can all be together.. i think is a miracle and I'm so grateful for that.
I think I've 'simulated' the moment of us all being together and discussing the album SO many time - like tens of thousands of times - both when I was in the military and even just not working. So just being together again is really ...moving for me

Anyway.. between the desire to change/evole but also, what Taehyung mentioned earlier, about preserving our "Bangtan-ness" - [this album] is the result of so much talking because we had so many worries/conflicts around that - but we really came up with this together. So I think it's REALLY lucky/good fortune that these 7 grown adult men could still come together and move towards the same goal and dream
j-hope: it's really precious..
RM: yea and even though I won't be able to show you my real secret choreography moves tomorrow because of my ankle
SUGA: it's a shake you won't get to see it.. truly
RM: I'll still do my best to prepare for the performance tomorrow. We've come this far trusting you all for 14 years. You all have that kind of power/strength - because of that, as much love as we've received - we will try to be stronger and more beautiful in our efforts to swim forward together. Into the future, let's keep swimming! Let's keep swimming! JJIN!!

Jin: yea so if I'm going to be honest.. after being discharged from the military.. I did solo activities for like a year.. and.. like a year and a half? and I was SO. LONELY. like sooo lonely..
but in these past few months being with the members, it's been such a fun and happy time.. and I hope this time continues for a long time in the future. I really like doing activities/events/things with our team.
RM: so cool [of you]

*잘 부탁드립니다 (jahl butahkdeureemnida) = this can be understood as 'i'm leaving [thing/person] in your care and hope you regard it/treat it well' - so for example, if you were dropping off your kindergartener at the first day of school, you could say this to their teacher; if you were dropping off your pet at a pet sitter, you could say this to the pet sitter, etc.

but when it's spoken about yourself - it's basically a polite albeit slightly sheepish, but absolutely normal, ask/suggestion to 'please receive me well' (and the unspoken part of that ask is that I WILL be worth your effort/care)

SO, many people could say this to their new boss on the first day of work to mean like 'i'll try my best, please receive me well!' - but here Jin, saying this to his longtime members and RM echoing it right back - is just showing, in a friendly/sweet (not formal/cordial) way - to express 'let's keep working together WELL into the future.

JK: i had so much fun working on the album and like all the songs... actually we have listened it to them SO MANY TIMES so.. wlel now that our album is out - i hope you all enjoy it. Be it recording or practicing, we each worked really hard. So I hope that, compared to our older albums, that you feel the differences ...or keep an eye out for what's changed.. and just have a lot of fun enjoying it all. Please look forward to our performances. We'll be working hard to prepare well for the tour. I love you!

they're human like the rest of us, folks. blemishes caused by stress triggered by high-stakes events.

Jimin: and so if the members wouldn't mind.. later on after practicing a bit.. i have to go out just REALLL quick to get it treated.. just REAL quick..

Jimin: so the makeup artists really helped to cover it up but anyway.. i think this is how excited i am (what a sweet way to pivot)

Jimin: anyway - like truly this is how excited i am for tomorrow and .. for everyone who waited for us - i mean i never know how/always think about how to adequately convey my/our gratitude ..and i mean all we can do is keep saying the same things and so for that i'm sorry but truly preparing a great performance and great music is the best way we can return the favor - so tomorrow - with our performance and with our new album - and our concert - we will do .. i mean honestly you'll be able to see it for yourself but we really have been giving our utmost to prepare - so please look forward to it all and to everyone - we will work hard so that this will be a great gift for you all - thank you so much and i love you and see you tomorrow!

SUGA: truly.. in like 3 years and 6 months we will be taking the stage together again - all 7 of us and even though the preparation process is kind of documented in the documentary, and i mean we like talk about it lightly and laugh about how 'oh we just did..' this or that but we really did put in a LOT of effort and hard work to make this album, so please enjoy it and look forward to the performance tomorrow. And especially for the tour, we're ..i mean as ever.. working hard to prepare for that, so please look forward to it a lot and let's all have fun and be safe tomorrow. Thank you!

V: i mean for me.. how should I say this.. i think i really looked forward to this moment. i mean because it's been SO long since the 7 of us have been on stage .. that i think when we take the stage .. i don't know.. i was like half super excited/half super nervous about whether we'd be able to bring the same energy we were once able to show - but actually after everything i've witnessed during our practices and stuff - i think we're actually SO much more impressive/cooler than we've ever been - so I want to show you all as soon as possible ..but i mean since you're not able to see Namjoon hyung's dancing..
