- Jin says it hasn't started cuz the spotty wifi, when later it's proven that they'd started but there was just a lag - Jin (playfully) goes "see, I told you there was never a problem with the wifi here" LOLL trolls all day every day

this dingus started stipping on the soup... using 3 spoons and confused himself when he learned he had 3 spoons LMAOOO

- RM, this whole time, has kinda been grumbling/confused about why there's no meet in their 'gamjatang' - named after the meat that goes into this particular stew LOL - so you can see RM/V sorta 'fishing' for pieces of meat from this brand new stew they just set to eat - when there's no meat (like at all) he's confused but it turns out that it was packed separately - so you'd have to add it in separately and they just hadn't done that yet; they learn there's meat to be unpacked and added in and this makes them all happy
- RM: i cut my hair but it's not cuz I wanted to.. I had to cut off all the dead parts but at this rate I might actually be able to perm my hair by the end of the year
- V ::sneezes:: ... "is no one going to say bless you?!"
RM: bless you
Jin: no I was going to say 'bless you' if you sneezed while facing the back...
V (done sneezing into his hands fully facing forward): ...no so cuz...

V (trying to explain his hands): oh.. cuz..

Jin: earlier, we were having a discussion amongst ourselves: basically, you know how when you exercise and it's hot
V: no it's when you're in a hotter country and you exercise..
Jin: when you're in a hotter country and you exercise - you know how you sweat more?
RM: .....
Jin: and so "does this mean we're burning more calories?" was the discussion we were having, right?
RM: right - we talked about a variety of places
V: doesn't work right?
RM (unpacking the meat for the stew, thinking V is talking to him): no it's working ?? (he's just fiddling with the bag the food's been packed in LOL)
V: no no ..the calorie thing
Jin: no I was thinking about it during the concert and I think it does burn calories.. you know why??
Jimin (also unpacking a diff bag of meat for the stew, who wasn't paying attn for the first half of what they were talking about): ...??? of COURSE doing our concert burns calories??
- Jin (explaining to Jimin): no no not the concert overall - but for example doing the same thing for our concerts in Korea versus somewhere like Africa or Europe (hotter)... do we burn the same amount of calories? is what we were discussing
V: I think it's pretty much the same
Jin: and I think it'll be a bit different - because your body uses energy to cause you to sweat, right? so by like 2-3 calorie difference, don't you think you'd use up like a little bit more?
V: hyung, you're talking about the interval right now
Jin::blank stare::
V: i'm talking about water retention and even though it might feel like you're losing water weight, basically you gain it all back if you drink a bit
Jin: ...sure. that's true too but i'm talking about the energy your body uses to expel moisture (sweat) - and consequently, from that, you burn like even just a little bit more
RM::unpacking meat::
Jimin: is the elevation the same?
V: but we checked with AI and hyung, you and I were both correct
...they're like not even talking about the same thing LMAOOOO
i LOVE that their discussions are like UTTER shenanigansss - like RM is just tryna eat, Jimin is of course running around getting stuff for the table, V is talking about moisture retention, and Jin is talking about burning calories... and it's all just so devastatingly on brand
- RM/V/Jin conclude that after checking, they concluded that yes while you may burn a few more calories in hotter conditions, that overall -if all other conditions are the same (e.g., same intensity, same duration, etc.) but in real life, this becomes sorta moot because in hotter conditions, real people tend to do less/be less intense - so a 20 minute workout in a cool gym may be more productive re: burning calories because you will likely do your workout more intensely, more consistently through the whole 20 minutes, etc. versus a 20 minute workout, let's say outside in the heat, you might slow down or lessen the intensity because it feels so much more exhausting in the heat
- they all had so much fun in Spain
- Mexico and Spain are both vying for the top spot as far as their concert experiences go!
- V: I had no idea they'd sing along with all of our songs to this extent
I haven't been able to catch too many vids of the Madrid D1 concert at the time I'm writing this translation but CHEERS TO YOU ALL! Sounds like you all had the best time and really made ARMY proud with how well you sang along to all the lyrics!
- V: in the last song, for Into the Sun, I got choked up
RM: me too! I got choked up too!
V: that's why I told you hyungs and Jimin to hurry and take out your in-ears

V: even though we're the one's putting on the concert, I feel like the fans probably burned more calories - Meanwhile, Jimin is discovering they have this green scallion side dish [that presumably he really likes] he gasps and does this while they're still discussing calories HAHAHAHA
V (outta nowhere just hyping up his twinnie): did you all know that Jimin is actually so sharp when it comes to debates like this?
Jin: of course, he's always been smart
V: but especially debates - he's so
RM: he watches so many science youtubes
Jin: he watches a lot of news too
V: when he eats solo - he says he always watches those
- RM: it's also super caught up with current events
*바삭해 (basakhae) = crispy - so you can use this word to describe a crispy cookie, a crisp piece of lettuce, etc.
*빠삭해 (bbasakhae, note the double "b" it's almost like b and p are fighting to be pronounced at the same time) = knows it really well/inside and out/very well versed in.. etc.
so please hear me out - the difference between ㅂ and ㅃ, when I've ever taught/helped friends - the little, deeply unofficial trick I use is the difference between like the 'b' sound in barn vs. the p sound in 'papi' spoken with as close to a sincere spanish accent as you can muster
that 'p' in "papi" - if you're saying it correctly, should not sound the same as the 'p' in "poppy" - it should sound closer to a b/p at the same time - this was just the first example that popped into my head over a decade ago when i was first helping an adoptee korean friend of mine hear/speak the difference and it helped her discern the difference so it's an example I kept using 🤷🏻♀️
whatever machine learning tech weverse uses for their dictation probably couldn't differentiate between the two sounds - so twice (once when V used it and again just now when RM used it) - it translated this word as "crispy"
- Jin: there's nothing he doesn't know

Jimin ::furiously shaking his head no:: - V: thereforeeee for today's live, if the fans could decide on a topic for us [to debate] then we can discuss together
- V asks RM to pick and RM is busy eating and probably can't really read the comments from where he's sitting.. and as he's sorta stalling - Jimin suggests "well recently, we talked about whether aliens exists/there's life beyond earth"
- for a little while they lightly discuss that there must be life beyond earth; RM mentions that he's heard that the circumstances for life to exist are really difficult to achieve- esp. human levels of intelligent life; Jin wonders if they must exist but it's just that the distance between wherever they are and earth is too vast for communication to be possible; V wonders that even if there is life beyond earth - whether it's possible for their [whatever alien life form] could measure up to human intelligence...
*지성 (jisung) = intelligence, but this is also a popular Korean name!
that said, the name "JISUNG" may or may not share the same meaning - just because it sounds/is spelled the same does not mean that all "Jisungs" were named with the meaning "intelligence" in mind - parents could have chosen any number of Chinese characters for Ji + Sung in combination to mean something else entirely
- at one point, Jimin mentions he loves watching "Orbit hyungnim ['s youtube channel]"
괘도 (gwedo) = orbit, it is also the name of a very famous Youtuber in Korea that specializes in science content and his desire to make science more palatable/accessible - Orbit (the YouTuber) has also been on some variety shows and he's even on the first season of Devil's Plan on Netflix (a reality game show that invites a mix of celebrities, Seungkwan from Seventeen, and applicants that were chosen from various submission backgrounds - including Orbit, the Youtuber
- Jimin mentions that Orbit hyungnim talks a lot about it and RM asks "so what's the conclusion?" and Jimin explains that he's fallen asleep to them so sometimes he doesn't catch the ends of the videos but "the probability is high"
- V mentions Fantastic Planet (see below)

RM (being silly): aishhh we're doing a liveeee~~~ (as in, I'm asking for ARMY watching the live - not because I don't know ya bingbongss loll)
Jimin: heheheh - Jin: we've been so busy in June
Jimin: I did see that you, Seokjin hyung and Taehyung were super busy with all your promos and stuff
Jin: like max ~1 day of rest? maxx 2?
RM: oh my gosh really??
V: I rested 2 days exactly
Jimin: are you filming like 20 promos each?? [part compliment/part troll, as in are you landing ALL these promos???]
V fussing at the compliment: eyyy ... . . . ..i'm just working with the brands I like

*멋지다 (mutjidah) = you're cool/you're so cool - but this is sincere, not sarcasm - this always sounds like sarcasm when I type it out in english cuz no one really says "you're so cool" and means it earnest LOLL there are ways to convey this, of course, but I feel like it's usually not literally with the words "you're so cool." hahaha but truuuly 9.9/10 times when Koreans say it, it's a sincere hype/compliment
alternatively, when they're trying to convey a sarcastic "you're soOoo cool" - which is also done just as often - it can be done a thousand different ways but likely not with the words "멋지다"
- RM/Jin take a moment to appreciate some of the food they have and they mention one of my favessss - 동침이 (dongchimi kimchi)
Through the month of June, while at home in Korea, Jin has only ordered out 1-2 times because he's been trying to cook more
RM: oh really? I tried making donkatsu - it was difficult
Jimin: ?? you did?? donkatsu?? you made it?? not just like bought it frozen [essentially just heating up pre-made donkatsu]
RM: yup
Jimin:
Jin: did you fry it??
RM: yea, I fried it
Jimin: wow, you chose like such a difficult path (as in, there are much easier/more accessible ways to eat donkatsu - even if you were going to go the way of preparing it or some of it yourself)
RM: it wasn't bad - was pretty good but def not as good as ones you can buy 😅 so yea, I tried to take on the challenge [of cooking]
- Jin attempted to make naengmyun broth paired with storebought noodles starting with naengmyun broth bouillon seasoning/stock powder and adding a LOT of sugar and chilling it
Jin: the broth was easier/simpler to make than I thought it'd be..
Jin: I never understood, before this, why my face would be puffy after eating naengmyun - but now after having made it - I understand it's a very salty and very sugary broth/food
Jimin: been seeing a lot of your piano vids lately (see above)
Jin: have you been playing on tour as well?
V: yea I have a piano in my room
RM: you brought a piano? you mean a keyboard right?
V: the foldable piano (portable/foldable keyboard)
Jimin: oh you've been practicing piano these days?
V: mm :)
Jin: that's crazy cuz I practiced for like a month and a half for my concert too
RM: ...is yoongi hyung's dream actually going to come true??
V: mm.... i do not believe that dream can come true.. hehehe
Jimin: hehehe
RM: I gave up after chromatic [prob learning the chromatic scale/chords] on bass - why is the guitar such a bad fit for me?? the guitar doesn't suit my disposition/nature at all i think
Jimin: is that even possible?? doesn't it fit your temperament/nature so well??
RM: maybe I mean more that ..it doesn't fit my temperament/temper

RM: exactly.. and there are a lot of different versions of this but okay on the one side is someone you love very much, a dear friend..

RM: and on the other side are 5 strangers and you have to pick one- and it's not that there's a right answer - it's that in the process of explaining yourself, you reveal things about your way of thinking/values/etc.
Jin: like the MBTI.. kinda
V: then can I ask a question first - once I choose an option - what happens to me? do I go to jail?
Jimin: ...::bursts out laughing::
V: right?? though??
...so some of you my know, i have a degree in ethics LOL - i've heard so many versions of this problem and this type of problem... i've never heard anyone ask what happens to me first... i've heard of people criticizing the whole setup, i've heard compelling arguments for either track, i've heard 'create a 3rd option' type answers, etc.. what an interesting but somehow comfortingly on-brand and quintessential V-esque question he asks hahaha
RM: ...o-o
Jimin to RM: actually but even questions like these can reveal your character right? what Taehyung is saying right now
RM: oh true.. i guess i never considered that
V: no because if you tell me i won't go to jail then it becomes easy for me to choose
RM: then let's go with 'you won't go to jail'
V: regardless of my choice?
RM: yea the conditions are such that the train is malfunctioning and that has been revealed by the blackbox and either way, you just had to pick a track -so that becomes your defense later
V: ohh then yea I'd just do the 5 people I don't know
RM: but then later in court
V: NO YOU SAID IT WAS OKAY!
Jimin: in the past ppl would say things like "oh so then those five people were not worth saving??" [like phrases specifically worded to provoke further chaos]
V::shock::
Jimin: yea they'd pose things like that to keep pushing your answer
RM: the 5 strangers could've included one of your fans, an elderly person, or a child
V: but but like I'd only have a few seconds to make that call right?
RM: right - you'd have to make the call within seconds
V: so then in the moment, i'd look at my friend ..and even with 5 strangers.. I mean of course I'd choose my friend [to save]
RM: okay so then how close of a friend is this?..
Jin: then let's make it Jimin..
- V says, without a doubt, he'd swerve into the 5 strangers but then CLASSIC JIN ups it to 10... then 100... V pauses and Jimin is like AT THAT POINT I'd just TELL HIM TO RUN ME OVER - then Jin poses 1000 strangers and V asks - at that point, wouldn't the train get stopped?? Jin says no they'd all get run over ~ (😑)
- Jimin says he doesn't really like these kinds of hypotheticals because they feel meaningless (I HARD AGREEEEEEEEEEEE) but then Jin and V both say they 'LOVE' these types of 'what if...' questions - esp as someone keeps raising the stakes loll and then after V says he loves "what ifs" - Jin goes "then why don't you marry them"
RM: they have this kinda thing on 12th floor (a Korean youtube channel that I just learned about this live and will start watching if it's good hehe)
V kinda sums up saying like well anyway he'd choose his friend/his person over the strangers - then CLASSIC JIN
Jin: "what if EVERYONE ON EARTH is on the other track"
V: ??! then that means you hyungs are on the other side too?! then .. I must say goodbye to Jimin
RM: okay then let's not use Jimin
- RM describes replacing the 1 person (who has been Jimin in these hypotheticals) to someone who checks in like maybe 1-2 times per year (so not a close close friend) - and V says in that case, he'd choose to save the 5 strangers
Jin describes how before going to sleep he often thinks about these ridiculous hypotheticals and Jimin is like "not ONE time have I thought of things like this" [like naturally, on his own] and RM asks if he's an "S" and asks Jin if he's an "N" (as in "S" for "sensing" and "N" for "intuitive" re: MBTI) and how "S" people likely never imagine things like these (Jin's scenarios)
Jimin: ...but I do imagine how I should dance for tomorrow's performance.. or
RM: no that's not 상상
Jin: that's just reality..
Jimin: well no cuz I'm imagining something that hasn't happened yet so ..
Jin: that's just thinking - that's just building up to the future
Jimin: ...so you're saying only ridiculous nonsensical hypotheticals counts as 'imagination' right now?
Jin - without skipping a beat: exactly.
Jimin:
can I just say ..at no point in any live can i ever really expect with any sort of reliable accuracy what is about to happen next... and i have never felt that more deeply than in this live LOLLL
- V says he struggles a bit with anxiety about the future, especially when it comes to speaking... (and then he starts to describe a hypothetical he imagines but it goes very differently than I expected)
V: so like for example if you and I fought (to Jimin) let's say - then when I'm about to sleep, I'll be like .."if I.. do an uppercut to him.."
Jimin bursts out laughing
Jin: is like OH 1000% me too [as in he thinks along these lines] - Jin does a whole one man performance of how ONE PER DAYYY he imagines how he'd fight Jung Kook, including dodging Jung Kook's moves, when to strike, and how Jung Kook will inevitably overpower him LOLLL
RM who looks like he's questioning all his life choices, to Jimin: I'm also an "N"... I do not have these kinds of thoughts though

RM (after explaining he doesn't quite imagine things like that the way Jin described): I do imagine things like this though...

RM: like if a pokemon were to appear in real life - what should i do?
Jimin: oh that'd be the best
RM: like to that extent sure - but not as far as them [Jin/V]
i've thought about that so many times. esp when i see weird bugs
- Jin asks if the members do stuff like 'count sheep' to try to fall asleep
Jimin/RM answer that doing something like that keeps them more alert actually
Jin: when I try to count sheep, I imagine them with like rockets coming out of their butt and stuff so I can't focus on anything - it really doesn't work for me
V: did i tell you guys? [to fall asleep] I turned on a 9-hr vid about the '*Romance of the Three Kingdoms' ...and I wound up watching it for SIX HOURS
Googled this because I didn't know what it was - it's "one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature
- Now they've seamlessly transitioned to 'this or that' questions and RM poses this: for the rest of your life, would you rather sleep only 4 hours a night or 14 hours a night?
V to RM: what's your answer?
RM: 4 hours
Jin: 14 hours
V to Jin: then may I add a few more details?

V: so 4 hours but with the best, fluffiest pillow or 14 hours but no pillow at all ::minimoni burst out laughing::
Jin: the reason this doesn't really work is cuz these days I haven't been sleeping with a pillow

Jin: i just sleep on top of my blanket so ..
V: AC is at 18° C (64°F)
Jin: i don't sleep with the AC on
V: no you have to. AC on. 14 hours. but you never wake up [during the sleep]
Jin: i feel like this doesn't work because you're adding details that you wouldn't like - but I sleep with no ac, no blanket, no pillow so this isn't working - so maybe something like 'sleep 14 hours but there's a cockroach on the loose'
V: no no - how's this - the curtains are open ...
Jimin: no no .. it's 14 hours but the whole time Taehyung is next to you whispering in your ear..
V (whispering in Jin's ear): are you sleeping okay? ::everyone laughs::
Jin: ooh that makes me so mad ...
V (whispering again): are you sleeping okay? ::Jimin is losing his mind::
Jin:hates this: no but wait cuz then I wouldn't be able to sleep for 14 hours..
V: no you can't wake up
RM: oh then he wouldn't hear you
V: no it'd be like sleep paralysis
it's at this point i questioned all my life choices til this point.. because what even am i translating right now..
- Jin is apparently a very light/sensitive sleeper and wakes up easily - when he was in Las Vegas, someone in the next room (he's not sure if it was the room above or next door) but someone was snoring and he was jetlagged so was trying to sleep around 1am and couldn't sleep
- RM is also a very light sleeper that regularly sleeps with ear plugs
Jin brings back up the story of how he couldn't sleep because of RM when they were trainees and RM whines to stop telling that same story for the umpteenth year in a row
V thinks this story has been told to ARMY at leastttt 30 times; Jimin/Jin think it's still funny every time it's told though; RM (see below)
- Jin hyping up RM to Jimin says that nowadays, RM is such a well-mannered, quiet sleeper wherever we go now.
